Whenever I send Mr. P to the grocery store, it seems like all his common sense flies right out the window. Obviously I can’t anticipate all the possible scenarios and whenever something doesn’t match up exactly with his grocery list, he goes into panic mode and starts calling me frantically. It’s usually over something really simple too, like I say I need some milk for baking and the usual brand we buy is out of stock. On the most recent trip, there was a buy 1 get 1 free sale, but I listed three flavors and so he doesn’t know how to handle choosing a fourth flavor on his own. This led to several missed calls while I was busy at work and him completely stressed out because he didn’t know what to do

Healthier Kraft Macaroni and Cheese

Mr. P usually isn’t too happy when I cook him “healthy” meals. So I often alternate between extremely healthy and finding ways to healthify his favorites. One of his favorite foods is Kraft’s macaroni and cheese.

Have you ever taken a look at the nutrition facts on the side of the box? Even I was shocked out at how unhealthy the boxed stuff is for you. I’m used to high calorie and fat foods tasting oily, heavy, etc. I never feel that way with boxed macaroni and cheese so I was really surprised at how much fat and calories are packed into the powder cheese mix. Recently I’ve been making it with a healthier substitute: low fat cottage cheese.

Wedding Reception Place Card Ideas

It’s apparently wedding season. Mr. P and I have attended several weddings in the last few months and while my wedding planning days are over, I can’t help taking note of creative ideas and I thought I’d share them on this blog for those who are still seeking wedding ideas.

One thing I always like as a wedding guest is receiving some sort of souvenir related to the reception seating place cards. It’s quite common at weddings to use something that guests can later take home as an extra little souvenir on top of the wedding favors.

Here are some of my favorites:

Natural Seashells

This is perfect for a beach themed wedding and everyone gets a pretty shell to take home with them.

The seashells are natural seashells but they have been buffed and clean to be smooth and pretty. Each one has an incision in the top to place the name card and the ones I purchased even came with the blank cards. I purchased them from Beaucoup.

Wine Cork People

This DIY project is perfect for a winery wedding venue. You use old wine corks and dress them up with flowers for girls, hats for boys, which you can glue on. You can draw the faces with thin markers and you end up with one of the cutest souvenirs I’ve ever come across.(...)

Dressing Up

Sometimes I feel like I’m living with a kid. You would think Mr. P is old enough that I don’t need to “spot check” his clothes before we leave to make sure he is dressed appropriately. Normally, I do make sure he is dressed right, but sometimes I’m in a rush and I won’t even notice what he is wearing until we get out of the car at our destination. Then I’ll see for the first time that he’s wearing his ratty jeans, tshirt and sneakers.

The Question

For years, the thing I dreaded most about going to a wedding was being asked the inevitable question of “When are you two getting married?” When we finally did tie the knot, I thought the questions would be over. But now every time we go to a wedding, the question has become “When are you starting a family?” It never ends…

Customized Chocolates

This seems to be the year for weddings for our friends and family. We’ve already attended a few and have at least one more left this year. From all these weddings, I’ve definitely picked up on a lot of cute ideas that I’m planning on sharing on this blog.

One idea for a party favor are customized chocolates. They are easy to make, and you can make them in the wedding theme colors. You can also customize the flavor by adding flavor oil extracts. You should be able to find all your supplies at your local bakery supply store. (...)

Wake Up Call

I like to take a power nap after work. Unfortunately, lately, I’ve had the hardest time waking up from them. Apparently, Mr. P discovered the best method to wake me up is to crinkle a bag of chips. I feel a little ashamed that it’s what wakes me up, but so far it’s worked every time.

Easy Nutella Cookies

Mr. P and I have been super busy lately. Our schedule is currently booked through June! We’ll try to keep posts as regular as possible, but there may be some weeks we just don’t have time. While I do have some time right now, I wanted to share a recipe we’ve been making a lot.

Our current favorite cookie recipe is an easy Nutella cookie recipe.

It’s simple (only 3 ingredients!), the cookies keep well for days, and the cookies are chewy and taste like Nutella.(...)

Search for the Shopping Cart

This is the story every time Mr. P and I go grocery shopping together. He somehow vanishes with the cart and I waste valuable time walking up and down each aisle while carrying a bunch of groceries and calling his cell phone with no answer. I had a conversation with a friend not too long ago over a meal and she mentioned that the same thing happens to her. Does this happen to you?

No Self Control

A lot of the strips poke fun of Mr. P, since I’m the one writing them. I’m obviously not perfect either. Last week, this situation happened, causing Mr. P to laugh so hard, I had to memorialize it. It’s definitely not a “one time” situation. It basically happens with any sweets: cakes, donuts, cookies. Mr. P always tells me to buy double of everything now since half of the sweets don’t survive the car ride home.
