Letting Go

I don’t usually share the stories that go along with these comics but this one is still very fresh in my mind. I’ve been very adamant that we hold onto Baby G’s hand whenever we are walking around outside unless he is in a grassy area. As someone who tripped and fell and had one of her teeth knocked out as a child, I didn’t want him to chip a tooth, scrape his knees, etc, if I could prevent it.

As you can see, Mr. P did not see eye to eye with me on this, insisting that Baby G needs to be allowed to run around and “learn to fall.” On a recent outing, Mr. P was left in charge of Baby G while I was getting my haircut. In the few minutes they were left alone, Baby G managed to fall and scrape his knee for the very first time. We also didn’t have any first aid kit on us to clean it up. I don’t know if Baby G learned his lesson here, but Mr. P sure did.
