US vs France: Grocery Shopping

It’s Thursday, so we’re doing a throwback to our honeymoon adventures last year. It was really interesting stepping into another country and culture. One of the biggest differences we noticed was at the grocery stores. In the US, the checkout clerks have a lot to do. They scan items, bag them, make conversation, and are on their feet the entire shift. When we shopped in France, the clerks sat in a chair and all they had to do was ring up the items. It was up to us to bag them and they never bothered to talk to us either. The clerks in France seem to have it easy!
